Why You Should Scan With Us

Brilliant Colour
We offer professional C41 and BW services. Every film has a colour profile. With our wealth of experience scanning a variety of film stocks, we ensure honest color reproduction in every scan
Shadow & Highlight Detail
Hate muddy shadows or overblown highlights? We inspect every frame to ensure your pictures turn out balanced. Make full use of our services by telling us how you want your film to be scanned. Our default is to scan for midtones, but if requested, we can scan for highlights or shadows as well
File Naming & Feedback
We pride ourselves in our 2-way feedback culture. We want to listen to you as well as give you feedback when your pictures don't turn out the way you want them to. Even better, we name your files according to the film specifications so that you can keep track of the ones you like
Low Volume, High Quality Workflow
We are proud of our low volume scanning service because we pride ourselves in dedicating more attention to scanning your film for optimal results. That being said, please expect a waiting time of around 4+ days from receiving your film.

What I really like about Grainsandsuch is his fine quality of scans at an affordable price and a personalized colour setting for my scans. I've always enjoyed exploring, wherever I may be. Being able to shoot film, slowed time down for me. It helps me remember the colour, smell of a scene and how I felt before each picture is taken. Because each roll is limited to 36 shots, I take my own time with each picture so that the memory sticks. This I prefer so much over just spamming photos with an iphone or digital camera, where photos feel more disposable. My film camera and the pictures taken are therefore extremely personal in remembering the things I've seen. I send my rolls to Grainsandsuch to carefully fine tune these memories to what I remember them to be. My advice to people getting into film is to start with a simple point-and-shoot or any fuss-free camera that is easy to bring around. You'll get into the habit of carrying it everywhere with you, as I do now. I would say pick a film lab that is simply passionate in what they do and willing to share pointers on developing and scanning! Film photography is a beautiful hobby

With Grainsandsuch, you get more than what you pay for – a two-way collaboration between like-minded hobbyists rather than a transactional service. To me, film is both a travel hobby and mindfulness practice that has taught me plenty of valuable life lessons on human nature and seizing opportunities. I love that it has an element of surprise, and I always get a certain thrill when I drop off a roll for development. Grainsandsuch is someone who gets just as excited about the final outcome as I do, and that’s what keeps me coming back – you’re not just a customer, he treats you like a friend. More than just receiving photographs, it feels like I’m growing and learning with every roll that passes through his lab. He’s always helping me do better as a fellow film enthusiast, whether it’s troubleshooting hardware hijinks or colour grading. Someone once said that film photography reveals what you cherish, and it teaches you to be careful and deliberate about what you shoot – a moment missed is lost forever, but the ones you manage to capture are uniquely yours to keep. When you think about it that way, you’d want to entrust the scanning and developing process to good hands, with someone who has a passion for the craft as much as you do and consistently delivers the best result

As a beginner, I want to understand and learn more about film photography without being judged. With Grainsandsuch, I like the open communication and follow-ups. I rediscovered film photography last year and loved it. For me, film photography comes in 2 parts - me, the photographer who frames and captures the image; and the lab who helps bring the pictures to life in a way that I imagine it. Grainsandsuch is that lab that helps me bridge the last mile. As a casual film bug, I guess my advice is to find a trusted and reliable lab that is patient and understands the mood and feel you want to achieve in your pictures
